Promax India Conference & Awards 2022 celebrates the zeal and creativity of leading entertainment and marketing brands

August 2022: Promax India, the leading entertainment market community of the country, recently honoured the excellence in entertainment marketing and design with its 20th edition of ‘Promax India Conference & Awards 2022’. The event took place at the Taj Santacruz in Mumbai on the 10th and 11th of August, and involved several workshops, sessions, one-on-one engagements with some of the most well-known global speakers.

As a global association for the entertainment marketing industry, Promax brings the best creatives and strategists in the country together to discuss compelling content, creativity, and marketing strategies. The two-day grand event featured industry media personalities, Megha Tata as Conference Chair, and Aparna Purohit – Head of India Originals at Amazon Prime Video, the Awards Chair, who welcomed the delegates to a physcal show after a span of 2 years.

Day 1 had the multi-talented, Promo genius, Rob Middleton engaging with the delegates at a workshop titled ‘The New Promo 10 Commandments’ which explained the 10 commandments for building clear, well-planned campaigns with global trends and examples. This was followed by a hand-on workshop on the ‘Design in Motion’ by Sheetal Sudhir where she shared the principles and theory of Motion and how it can be used to enhance brand messaging. One of the highlights of the event was a masterclass workshop and a session for all broadcast marketing professionals by The Brief Doctor: Tim Hughes, which simplified time-tested tricks for professional content writers and tips to supercharge the brand and its promotions.

The second day of the conference started with the keynote address of Stephanie Gibbons, EVP Marketing & On-Air at FX Network. Multiple sessions on the current trends and development of the voiceover industry were held featuring Brent Hagel, Owner, Trailer Voice Artists Agency, and Rahul Mulani, Voiceover Artist, Comedy Central. Lee Hunt, Founder, Lee Hunt LLC, deliberated on the topic ‘New Best Practice, it’s Linear Vs Streaming.’

Sharing his experience, Rob Middleton said, “An effective marketing strategy will increase brand recall for your audience, produce leads, and bring in new clients. It’s crucial to ensure that your marketing campaign’s creativity and methods are strongly connected to your strategy and organisational objectives. Think about the science of persuasion when you develop your campaign ideas. These are tried-and-true strategies that affect people’s behaviour.”

Discussing the increasing importance of motion design, Sheetal Sudhir said, “The design industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. It is constantly changing, with new trends emerging and developing each year. With technology continuously pushing the conventional discipline of art and design into an ever-increasing digital presence, motion design has evolved into a crucial skill set for every creative designer. I believe that this skill set is crucial for quick connection with the target audience and boosting a brand’s value and identity in the minds of viewers.”

The highly anticipated event had leading brands across the country compete for the awards. Some of the winners of the prestigious awards are Best Brand Image Campaign, won by Zee Cinema for their Rehna Hain Sath Sath campaign; Best Ident won by Nickelodeon World Environment Day Ident; Best Social Media campaign by Disney Star for its #BreakThe Loop; Best Drama Promo – clip based won by Sony Pictures Networks – Sony liv for The Whistleblower Announcement; Best Drama Campaign won by Amazon Prime Video/White Turtle Studios for Mumbai Diaries; Best Themed Campaign won by Sony Pictures Networks – SET for Shark Tank India Season 1 Launch; Best Marketing Video/Sizzle Reel/Presentation won by Warner Bros. Discovery/Cartoon Network for CN Sales AV 2021; and Best Sound Design won by Shemaroo Entertainment for its Bollywood X’mas Jingle, amongst others.
