Hyderabad, November  2022… Rotary Club of Hyderabad Centennial announces Inter Academy / Club Badminton Team championship -2022. The tagline for the championship is “Smash it for a cause”. It is a unique tournament in many ways. One, it is not an individual tournament, it is a team tournament. Two, the participants are Badminton Academies and Privilege Clubs in the city. It is an inter Badminton Academies and Privilege Clubs tournament being organised for the first time in the city. Third, it will be organised to raise rupees six lakhs to perform 100 Cataract Eye surgeries for the underprivileged. The tournament is open to all above 30 years. It will be held on December 24th & 25th, for two days in the city at RRC Sports Complex, Secunderabad. The Championship is supported by Vishwanmanya Badminton Academy

Hyderabad city has well over 200 badminton academies and over 15 privileged clubs. All the players in these organizations play individually in their organizations. There was never an interaction. Hence, this Inter Academy / Club Badminton Team championship -2022 is planned to interact, share and care for the underprivileged.

A total of 32 Teams will be participating in the tournament. Each team consists of 5 Category Men’s Doubles (Age total of two participants have to be above 65 years, 70 years, 80 years, 90 years, and 100 years). So the Categories are 65+, 70+, 80+, 90+ and 100+. This is a unique format in the sense two players have to be one younger and the other elder, which is a unique combination.

The game shall be played with Feather Shuttle. 32 Teams with a format of League and Knockout. League Matches have 15 Points Best of 3 and Knockout matches have 21 Points Best of 3. Rs.1,00,000/- plus a Rolling trophy will be given to the Winner team. Rs. 50,000/- plus a Trophy will be given to the Runner up the team. All the participants will get Participation Certificates and Medals.

The Rotary Club of Hyderabad Centennial is one of the Rotary Clubs in Rotary District 3150. It has 36 members actively involved in various service activities in the past 18 years. This rotary year, the club took the initiative to identify underprivileged beneficiaries who need Cataract Eye surgeries and be instrumental in fulfilling the vision to organize a Minimum of 100 surgeries. Out of which the club could complete 35 Surgeries. To achieve this mission, the club proposes to organize the Inter Academy / Club Badminton Team championship -2022Jumbled Doubles (Men), on December 24th & 25th 2022, at Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, RRC Grounds, Beside Railnilayam, Secunderabad.
