New Delhi, 17th December 2024: KL Deemed to be University has been honored with the prestigious All-India Smart Campus Award under the “Innovation Award for Professional” category at the BEE National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA-2024). The award ceremony, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, was graced by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, as the Chief Guest.
The Ministry of Power, Government of India has honored the university for their contribution and exceptional achievements in energy conservation, sustainable practices, and innovative campus initiatives. The award celebrates KL Deemed to be University’s efforts in creating a sustainable and energy-efficient campus environment.

Pardha Saradhi Varma, Vice Chancellor of KL Deemed to be University. “This national award reflects our ongoing efforts to create an environmentally responsible campus that serves as a model for educational institutions across the country. We are not merely conserving energy; we believe in creating a legacy of environmental stewardship and responsible progress.”
On behalf of the University, Dr. V. Rajesh, Dean of Planning and Development at KL Deemed to be University, received the award from Shri Srikant Nagulapalli, Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), symbolizing the collective achievements of the institution in sustainable development.
The university’s transformative sustainability initiatives include its accomplishments such as conserving 750 m³ of fertile soil, planting over 1,000 trees, and implementing innovative energy management strategies. Notably, the campus has achieved a 52.58% reduction in water demand and installed 3.854 MWp solar systems that provide 48% of the campus’s energy needs.
The department of Planning and Development at KL Deemed to be University played a crucial role in receiving this prestigious award. Under the leadership of Higher management, the university has consistently demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development and energy efficiency.
This award adds to KL Deemed to be University’s growing list of accolades in energy conservation, including the Academia Excellence Award in 2024, Green Urja & Energy Efficiency Awards, & the Appreciation Award in 2023, the State Energy Conservation Award in 2022 and others, as it accentuates the University position as a leader in sustainable energy management and innovation in the academic sector.
