The Role in Dhadak 2 is a Very Familiar Territory: Vipin Sharma Shines as Mr Ahirwar

Vipin Sharma has long been recognised as one of Hindi cinema’s seasoned actors, known for bringing depth, restraint, and an unmistakable honesty to every role he takes on. From the stern father in Taare Zameen Par to gritty portrayals in films like Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypur, to godman’s defence lawyer in the National Award-winning film Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, his performances have often anchored stories with emotional realism. But with Dhadak 2, Sharma takes a surprising creative leap. Playing a cross-dressing father in a film rooted in caste discrimination and social marginalisation, he delivers a portrayal that is tender, layered, and deeply personal. The performance has struck a chord with both audiences and critics, many calling it one of the film’s most quietly powerful moments.

On finding personal resonance with the role, Vipin Sharma, said, “The compliments I am getting for Dhadak 2 from both the critics and audiences have taken me by surprise! The film is about discrimination! The struggles of the lower caste citizens being marginalised. My role in the film represents that struggle. I am deeply connected to those feelings having grown up in a similar environment ! I remember it took me almost three hours to muster enough courage to enter the Doordarshan building in Delhi just to find out what was the process of hosting a 10 min programme on Yuva Vani! I was that nervous!”

While talking about his preparation for the character, he said, “The role in Dhadak 2 is a very familiar territory! I didn’t have to do any research. I am extremely fortunate that I always strike a chord with such unique filmmakers bringing important narratives to screen! Having been a part of some of the most important films made in Hindi cinema over the last decade has been a huge privilege! I am humbled and honored! Thanks to all who trust me with such responsibilities!”

Vipin Sharma’s role in Dhadak 2 offers a refreshing shift from everything we’ve seen him do before. It’s a role that feels both personal and powerful, leaving a quiet impact. Catch Dhadak 2 in theatres near you, a story that stays with you long after it ends.
