T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and one of India’s premier B-schools with double crown accreditation (AACSB, AMBA), hosted the induction program for the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) 2025–2030 batch on 9th August 2025. The day featured an in-depth orientation session, along with interactions between parents, faculty, and the new students.
Welcoming the batch, Prof. Rajeev Kumra, Director, TAPMI, highlighted the institute’s reputation for academic rigour, discipline, and holistic development through academics, projects, competitions, sports, and cultural activities. Emphasising hostel life as a training ground for leadership, teamwork, and resilience, he assured parents of a safe and nurturing environment and urged them to give their children space to grow. He encouraged students to seize every opportunity, build friendships, embrace challenges, and develop skills beyond academics to shape their careers and personal growth.
In his inaugural address, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, spoke of TAPMI’s unique advantage as part of India’s leading multidisciplinary university, offering a transformative five-year journey from school graduates to globally competitive management professionals. He stressed the value of a diverse learning environment, global exposure, and cultural immersion. Advising students to balance independence with responsibility, he urged them to avoid distractions, commit to lifelong learning, and cultivate curiosity, adaptability, and a readiness to make a positive difference.
Chief Guest Mr. Arjun Viswanathan, Managing Director at VAST Data, reflected on his early days in Manipal and the resilience those experiences built. He noted that while the world is intense, unpredictable, and sometimes unfair, it is also full of opportunity. He urged students to stay honest with themselves, prioritise mental health, read deeply, understand people, and balance reflection with vision. “Courage without thought leads to chaos, while planning without heart leads to stagnation,” he said, encouraging them to keep learning and moving forward without forgetting their roots.
Guest of Honour Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar of MAHE, congratulated the incoming batch for excelling in academics and the rigorous selection process. Calling them the “best among the best,” he urged them to take ownership, maintain discipline, meet academic requirements, and treat challenges as opportunities. Stressing that the next five years will shape the next forty, he encouraged active participation in research, mastery of fundamentals, and lifelong learning.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks and best wishes for the students’ transformative journey ahead.
