Great Lakes Gurgaon Wraps Up AICTE–ATAL VAANI Workshop on Sustainable Business Practices

Gurgaon, Feb 19: Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon, recently concluded a two-day AICTE–ATAL VAANI Workshop, titled From Local Wisdom to Global Impact: Sustainable Production, Responsible Consumption & Business Strategies for an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The workshop brought together faculty members, researchers, industry practitioners, and postgraduate students for thoughtful discussions on how sustainability can move from theory to practice in the Indian context. Over two days, participants explored themes such as green supply chains, ESG strategy, net-zero infrastructure, circular economy models, and the role of AI in addressing challenges in agriculture and water management.

One of the distinctive aspects of the programme was its commitment to accessibility. Under the AICTE–ATAL VAANI scheme, sessions were delivered primarily in Hindi, with technical concepts explained in English where required, ensuring that knowledge reached a wider and more diverse audience. The workshop featured speakers from academia and industry who shared practical case studies and research-led insights, encouraging participants to rethink how sustainability can be embedded into business decision-making.

Dr. Surya Prakash, Associate Professor at Great Lakes Gurgaon and Convenor of the workshop, said,

Sustainability cannot remain a compliance checklist. It must become part of how organisations design operations, measure impact, and create long-term value. Through this workshop, we aimed to bridge research, policy, and practice in a way that is relevant to India’s developmental priorities.”

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Surya Prakash, with Prof. Sachin Mangla from FORE School of Management as Co-Convenor. The workshop concluded with a strong emphasis on collaboration—bringing together local knowledge, global perspectives, and practical business strategies to support a more sustainable and self-reliant India.

Great Lakes Gurgaon continues to engage with academic and industry partners to foster responsible management education and conversations that matter to business and society.
