These millet-based cookies and chikkis aim to support the upliftment of the tribal community while promoting good health, especially among young children. The initiative represents a significant step in empowering tribal producers by ensuring their products reach the right consumers and are used for a greater societal purpose.

This project not only emphasizes the ethical use of these products but also aids in their marketing for long-term benefits. It has received strong backing from the Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri Revanth Reddy; Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri M. Bhatti Vikramarka; Minister for Women & Child Welfare, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Smt. Seethakka; and Shri Kotnak Thirupathi Garu, Chairman – TGGCC.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kotnak Thirupathi, Chairman – TGGCC, said “The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri Revanth Reddy Garu, has earlier emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality snacks to the youth and children of Telangana, especially those in government schools. Children are the backbone of our nation, and their health depends on the food they consume and the exercise they get. Healthy, uncompromised food that promotes gut health and keeps children fit is essential. In addition to a balanced diet, children require vital vitamins and essential minerals. The easiest way to provide this is through nutritious, tasty snacks that are good for their overall well-being.”

A revolutionary initiative led by Shri A. Sharat Garu (IAS), Hon’ble Secretary for Tribal Welfare – Government of Telangana, aims to create high-quality millet-based cookies and chikkis made using pure Girijan honey, collected from the forested hills by tribal communities. The objective is to support the health of children and contribute to societal welfare.

Backed by intensive research and expert product development by Dr. B. Dayakar Rao, CEO & Director of Nutrihub – ICAR–IIMR, Millet Nutri Chikki and Honey Millet Cookies combine the nutritional excellence of millets with the purity of forest-fresh honey.
