Gopi Birla Model United Nations Inspires Over 270 Students to Become Future Global Leaders

Mumbai, India, 05th August 2025: The eighth edition of the Gopi Birla Model United Nations (GBMUN) concluded with resounding success this past weekend, bringing together 276 students from 24 schools for a two-day immersive experience in diplomacy, global problem-solving, and international cooperation. Hosted by Gopi Birla Memorial School, the conference served as a dynamic platform for students to engage deeply with global challenges across 13 committees, mirroring the structure and processes of the United Nations.

From first-time participants to seasoned MUN delegates, the conference transformed students into confident negotiators, researchers, and public speakers. Through structured debate, negotiation, and policy drafting, participants developed vital 21st-century skills including critical thinking, empathy, and collaborative leadership.

“We witnessed extraordinary moments of diplomacy unfold,” noted Ms. Khyati Dwarkadas, Deputy Director, GBMUN 8. “Fierce adversaries in committee sessions became collaborative partners in the corridors, demonstrating the power of structured international engagement,” mentioned Mrs Madhu Wadke, Principal and Director of GBMUN 8.

Beyond the conference, students were encouraged to carry their ideas into their schools, communities, and future academic settings. Dr. Veena Shrivastava, Campus Head, underscored this responsibility: “The resolutions crafted here will not gather dust; they embody a commitment to creating meaningful change and must inspire action beyond the conference.”
