Health Minister Inaugurates HCCB’s CSR Initiatives in Chittoor

Hon’ble Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Satya Kumar Yadav, inaugurates Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB)’s CSR initiatives in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh

India, 5th August 2025:  Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), one of India’s leading FMCG companies inaugurated a series of community partnership initiatives in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh today under its comprehensive CSR program: Project SHINE. These initiatives include facilitation of health camps, public health infrastructure development, sanitation projects in schools, skill-building programs for women, and sustainable waste management solutions. Shri Satya Kumar Yadav, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated these initiatives in the presence of local officials, community members, and beneficiaries at an event held in Chittoor. Alongside him, Shri DR V M Thomas, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly, Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh was present during inauguration.

HCCB remains committed to enhancing healthcare access in rural Andhra Pradesh. Under this initiative, health camps have been successfully conducted in Chowdepalle, Santhipuram, Thavanampalle, Palasamudram, Bugga Agraharam, and Baireddipalle villages, offering essential medical services to local communities. Further, the company has upgraded five PHCs in Shanthipuram, Vijayapuram, Palasamudram, Chowdepalle, and Thavanampalle with modern medical equipment, including hydraulic OT tables, OT headlights, instrument trolleys, vertical autoclaves, multipara monitors, and air conditioners, to enhance surgical and emergency care facilities. Additionally, it has constructed new toilets at Public Health Centres (PHCs) in Chowdepalle and Palasamudram.

Recognizing the need for better sanitation facilities in schools, HCCB facilitated the construction of a new toilet at ZPHS Nanjampeta, ensuring improved hygiene and sanitation standards for students. Furthermore, as part of its commitment to sustainable solutions, the company has installed ten solar lights in Bangarupalam village, contributing to better community infrastructure and safety.

Empowering women through skill-building and economic inclusion remains a key focus of Project SHINE. HCCB is providing sewing machines to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Thondamanadu, PR Kandriga, Akkurthi, and Challapalem villages, enabling women to gain financial independence. In addition, the company is conducting training sessions on WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), Sales & Marketing, and Digital & Financial Literacy for women, equipping them with essential skills for livelihood development.

Access to safe drinking water is a key focus of HCCB’s CSR initiatives. The company installed a water filtration unit in Akkurthi, Srikalahasti Mandal, Tirupathi, providing villagers with access to safe drinking water and enhancing their quality of life. Additionally, an RO filter has been placed in Cherlopalli, Tirupati. These community-focussed initiatives highlight HCCB’s dedication to meeting critical needs and promoting development.

As part of its efforts to promote sustainable waste management, HCCB has donated electric vehicles for waste collection to the Challapalem Gram Panchayat, Kapugunneri Grama Panchayat, and Thondaman Puram Gram. This initiative supports efficient and eco-friendly waste disposal practices, contributing to a betterment for the community.

Project SHINE is built on five core thematic areas: Sustainable Solutions for Environment & Disaster Management, Health & Hygiene through WASH Initiatives, Inclusive Growth via Women Empowerment & Livelihood, Nurturing Potential with Education & Skill Building, and Empowering Communities for a Better Future. Through Project SHINE, HCCB continues to undertake various CSR activities, including health and hygiene awareness programs, waste management projects, and skill development training for women and youth in Andhra Pradesh. To date, HCCB’s efforts have positively impacted over 2 lakh individuals across the state. Additionally, HCCB has provided Digital & Financial Literacy training to over 4,000 women and implemented key CSR projects, such as installing solar streetlights and modernizing public health infrastructure.

HCCB has also collaborated with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), aimed to provide sales and marketing training to 5,000 young professionals. The initiative has already trained over 7,650 individuals, exceeding the initial target. This partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), spans seven districts in Andhra Pradesh: Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa, Guntur, and Chittoor.

HCCB remains committed to fostering meaningful change by working closely with local communities and government stakeholders, ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth across Andhra Pradesh.
