India, July 14, 2025: ThunderPlus, India’s fastest-growing EV charging network, lit up IITM Sangam 2025 with its inspiring presence and groundbreaking impact. Held at the Taj MG Road, Bengaluru, the flagship annual alumni conference of IIT Madras brought together over 500 visionaries, faculty, alumni, entrepreneurs, investors, and students all driven by a common mission: to shape India’s future through innovation.
ThunderPlus showcased its remarkable growth story and innovations that are powering India’s electric mobility revolution. Operating across 60+ cities, boasting 12 MWh of installed charging capacity, and building strategic partnerships with top OEMs and fleet operators, ThunderPlus is tackling one of the biggest challenges in EV adoption: charge anxiety.
Delivering an electrifying keynote, Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus and proud IIT Madras alumni, said:“ThunderPlus is not just a startup, it’s an opportunity too good to miss. We’re laying the foundation for India’s electric future with purpose, speed, and profitability.”
Shattering industry myths, ThunderPlus recorded ₹10 crore in revenue in FY2024–25, with a 5% EBITDA margin, a testament to the fact that EV charging infrastructure can be profitable with the right approach and execution. This achievement drew admiration from investors and alumni alike, cementing ThunderPlus’s position as a category-defining player in India’s clean mobility landscape.
The event featured eminent personalities, including Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras; Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Commerce & Industry; and Shri Tejasvi Surya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. Each leader emphasized the vital role of homegrown entrepreneurs and deep-tech talent in propelling India towards global leadership.
In a visionary announcement, Prof. Kamakoti unveiled a ₹200 crore Venture Capital Fund to support startups emerging from IIT Madras, empowering them to scale with strategic investments and mentorship.
Adding further momentum, Shri Piyush Goyal announced an additional ₹10,000 crore under the Government’s ‘Fund of Funds’ initiative, focused on nurturing India’s deep-tech ecosystem.
“This investment fuels innovation, adoption of advanced technologies, and the development of frontier industries,” he noted.
