“Trimming The Light,” an exhibition curated by Manik Burman, was be inaugurated, by the eminent painter Mr. Sakti Burman and the eminent sculptor Mr. K S Radhakrishnan. The exhibition will run until April 21.at The Shridharani Gallery presented By Janus Art Gallery
The exhibition is about how artists turn their ideas into something physical that we can see and understand. They use the idea of light as an example because it’s something we can’t touch, but we can see. They call it “Trimming The Light” because it’s like making something out of nothing.
Young curator Manik Burman intends for this exhibition to delve into the journey of physicality from the non-physical dilemma that art practitioners face. He believes that artists have transformed light into a physical body through conventional and non-conventional means, such as printmaking, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and other mediums. “Trimming The Light” showcases emerging contemporary practitioners who engage with their practice after breaking academic boundaries.
The exhibition will feature works by several artists, including Khokon Giri, Kumar Krishna, Ranojay Sarkar, Suraj Gorai, Faruque Ahmed, Partha Saha, Debi Prasad Bhunia, Shubhankar Chakrabarty, Surajit Mudi, Raja Boro, Dibendu Roy, Santanu Dey, and Amit Dey. Additional artists may join the exhibition as it progresses.
