Wishes & Blessings makes Holi, IWD grander with celebrations among lesser-privileged

To mark a grand celebration of the festival of colours Holi and International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023, Delhi-based NGO Wishes & Blessings organized a host of activities with underprivileged children, women workers from the skill development center and residents of the organization’s old age home. The social activists of Wishes & Blessings initiated the Holi celebrations with the children of its Day Care center at Modi Mills and Coolie Camp.

The colourful merriment at the daycare center continued with the observance of both Holi and IWD. To recognize the contributions of each woman to society, on IWD, Wishes & Blessings felicitated the women at its skill development centre along with the female team members and gave them certificates in recognition of their hard work. To make the occasion more merry-making, Wishes & Blessing also distributed exciting hampers, which consisted of gifts like fabric, scissors, thread & needle, marking chalk, measuring tape and scale, bobbin and bobbin case, hip curve, and iron.

“The felicitation of the women at the skill development center holds significant relevance since the women come from a background where they are not allowed to step out of their houses. And it is a big step that with our encouragement and support, they are now finally coming out and trying to get engaged into activities which will make them financially and socially independent,” mentioned Founder and President of Wishes and Blessings Dr. Geetanjali Chopra.

Also, to make the program more zealous, a special performance by the male members of Wishes & Blessings was presented before the ladies in the center.

Wishes & Blessings also organized a High Tea at its old age home, Mann Ka Tilak, to share colors with the beneficiaries there. Holi celebrations also included playing colors with the visually impaired children at Janta Adarsh Andh Vidyalaya (JAAV).

“Our primary vision is to spread happy smiles among the lesser privileged through various happiness-centric initiatives. The celebrations of Holi and International Women’s Day with the underprivileged children, the hard-working women in our skill-development center, and the residents of our old-age homes have actually glowed up their faces and ushered us with immense satisfaction. It was a delight for us to have made the festivity more special and inclusive,” noted Dr. Chopra.
