The Baishakhi Mela 2025, hosted by the Telangana Punjabi Sabha, was a vibrant confluence of tradition, talent and togetherness, a true celebration of Punjabi spirit and cultural pride

Hyderabad, 14th April 2025: The spirit of Punjab came alive at the Grand Baishakhi Mela 2025, hosted by the Telangana Punjabi Sabha in association with the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.; as the official Hospitality Partner, at Novotel HICC, today. The evening reached a crescendo with a soul-stirring live performance by the legendary Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, who captivated the audience with his timeless voice and heartfelt melodies. Adding a dash of laughter and fun, Ms. Shashi Dhiman from Chandigarh had the crowd in splits with her rib-tickling comedy act. The energy soared even higher as a renowned dance troupe from Patiala took the stage, setting the floor ablaze with vibrant Bhangra and graceful Gidda performances, getting everyone grooving along.

Speaking on the occasion Sri Ravinder Singh Sarna, President, Telangana Punjabi Sabha, said, since our humble beginning in 1963, the Telangana Punjabi Sabha, has been a shining beacon of Punjabi culture in this region. For over 6 glorious decades the Sabha has tirelessly worked to promote the rich culture, music and spirit of Punjab, while fostering harmony and togetherness within the wider community of Telangana. Baisakhi is not just a celebration, it is a vibrant celebrations of new beginning, prosperity and the enrichment of our cultural roots. It reminds of the values we endear, hard work, resilience, joy and above all community bonding. Over the years Telangana Punjabi Sabha has evolved to become much more than a cultural organisation. We built a platform where culture meets charity, where our celebrations go hand in hand with service to society, from organising free health camps, contributing to relief efforts during national calamities, to promoting social welfare and education, we remain committed to making a meaningful difference to people’s lives. This evening is truly special as it brings all of us together as a one big family and what a magnificent celebration we have in store tonight. We are delighted to host the legendary Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan ji.

Sri Surender Pal Singh Saluja, said, Telangana Punjabi Sabha organises numerous programs and celebrations including Baisakhi, Lohri, Diwali milan. The Sabha’s women’s wing, Phulkari, undertakes several social and cultural initiatives, making a difference to the Punjabi community and entire Telangana.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Punjabi community across Hyderabad, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka and was graced by several distinguished guests, including Guests Sri B. Beyond festivities, the Telangana Punjabi Sabha has remained committed to community welfare, contributing to disaster relief, organizing health camps, and promoting social causes. Its women’s wing, Phulkari, continues to champion women’s empowerment through events, discussions, and outreach activities. In the past the Sabha hosted some of the biggest names in Punjabi entertainment, including Daler Mehndi, Jasbir Jassi, Hard Kaur, Hans Raj Hans, Sugandha Mishra, Meet Brothers, and Ms. Satinder Sartaj, reinforcing its reputation as a premier cultural platform in South India.
