Monika Khanna Joins Prathaon Ki Odhe Chunri: Beendani as Antagonist, says ‘Always Wanted to Play a Role Like Ramkudi’

A show without an antagonist is like a story without conflict. It lacks the spark that fuels emotion and drama. Every hero’s journey becomes more compelling when met with strong opposition, and in Sun Neo‘s Prathaon Ki Odhe ChunriBeendani, that force is Ramkudi. Played by popular television actress Monika KhannaRamkudi brings unpredictable charm and layered intensity to the narrative, adding depth and intrigue.
In its latest promo, Prathaon Ki Odhe ChunriBeendani teases a storm quietly building. Inside a dimly lit haveli, a woman silently pounds spices. Her face remains hidden, but flashbacks reveal a painful past spent on the streets, in jail, and in a mental asylum. Who is she? What pushed her to the edge? Just as she declares the haveli will never again hear an heir’s cry, a baby’s wail shatters the silence. She freezes. At the door stands Ghevar, a baby in her arms and a storm in her eyes. The pestle falls to the ground. This is Ramkudi — and her return isn’t just marked by pain, but by a burning desire for revenge. What is it in her past that drives such hatred? And how far will she go to make Ghevar’s life hell in her sasural? With that, begins the powerful and twisted tale of Beendani.
Sharing her excitement, Monika Khanna said, “I’m truly happy and excited to step into the shoes of Ramkudi. Initially, I thought it would be a typical negative role, but it’s far from that. When Raghuvir Shekhawat Sir, our writer and producer, told me not to play it like a conventional villain but with humor, I was confused at first. But when he enacted it for me, I immediately understood the quirky, entertaining tone he had in mind for Ramkudi.”
She added, “He never wanted this character to be scary. He wanted her to be fun, unpredictable, and full of life. I’ve always wanted to play a role like this. Ramkudi has drama, comedy, and complexity. She’s vibrant and layered, and I’m thoroughly enjoying bringing her to life. I truly hope the audience connects with her the way we have.”
Rooted in tradition and driven by raw emotion, Prathaon Ki Odhe ChunriBeendani follows the journey of a fearless woman who dares to defy age-old customs to carve her path. Watch this powerful story unfold soon, airing exclusively on Sun Neo from 12th August, every night at 9:00 PM.
