PVR INOX Pictures Enhances India’s Cinematic Landscape with ‘Christmas Karma’ as Flagship International Release

PVR INOX Pictures, the distribution arm of India’s largest multiplex chain, is deepening its role as a key gateway for global cinema in India. With Gurinder Chadha’s Christmas Karma set for release, the company continues to champion films that blend cultures with ease and feel right at home for Indian audiences. The film stands out as a strong addition to a slate that is broader, sharper and more confident than ever.

The distribution team has been steadily widening its reach through films that speak to emotion, carry a South Asian pulse and hold clear theatrical strength. Christmas Karma fits that space well. Chadha returns to a tone that made her earlier work a long-running favourite in the country, shaping a warm and humorous retelling of a classic with a clear Indian touch. The cast, filled with faces widely loved by Indian fans, only adds to the appeal.

The pace of releases shows how fast the slate is growing. Last year, PVR INOX Pictures released 124 films, with international and regional titles at 52 each, and another 20 from Hindi cinema. The current year is on the same track. From April to late November, 78 films have already reached cinemas, led by 42 international titles, followed by 26 regional films and 10 Hindi releases. The rising share of global films points to growing interest from new viewer groups, while regional and Hindi cinema continue to connect strongly across core markets.

Speaking about the slate, Nayana Bijli, Lead: Distribution and Licensing, PVR INOX Limited said,

“We are seeing clear enthusiasm for global cinema across metros and smaller cities. This gives us the confidence to take in films like Christmas Karma, which carry heart, humour and strong cultural touchpoints. The response to our mix of releases encourages us to keep building a slate that reflects the tastes of a wide and growing audience. Key International Studio Partnerships including those with A24, Lionsgate, Anton, Black Bear, FilmNation, Neon, Medialink, and TV Asahi continue to strengthen and diversify the global slate, allowing PVR INOX to bring high-quality international cinema to Indian audiences.”

The strong line-up in the coming months adds significant momentum. With the recently released Gustaakh Ishq and upcoming titles like DhurandharMarty SupremeShelterGreenland, and the Korean film Your Letter, the slate brings range, scale, and renewed energy to the calendar. Each film caters to a distinct audience segment, offering broad appeal across cultures and languages and positioning the slate for strong box-office performance.

By taking in global cinema, uplifting regional stories and offering Hindi films with steady theatrical promise, PVR INOX Pictures is shaping a model that keeps audiences engaged across the country. The company’s approach is opening new segments while building a space that welcomes stories from many corners of the world.
