New Delhi, Nov 26: The 15th edition of the prestigious DGC Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship 2025, presented by Usha, teed off today at the iconic Delhi Golf Club (DGC). The ceremonial tee-off was performed by Indian professional golfer Mrs Tvesa Malik as well as Yogya Bhalla, Ayesha Gupta, Raza Kaur, Keya K Badugu and Ojaswini Saraswat in the presence of Lady Captain Mala Bawa and former Lady captain, Nutan Kataria, along with other DGC dignitaries. With 115 participating players, this 3-day, 54-hole tournament will be played across the Lodhi and Peacock courses from November 26th to 28th.

Continuing its legacy, this year’s tournament once again carries the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status. Managed by the R&A and USGA, the WAGR evaluates the performance of leading amateur golfers globally, encompassing over 10,000 players across more than 4,000 events.

The 2025 championship showcases a dynamic field of players, including 20 top junior girls with handicaps of 9 and below, all promising young talent to watch. In the Gold Division (handicap 14 and below), around 35 participants from across India are competing for the top honours. This edition also sees participation from players associated with the Ultimate Golf Foundation, underscoring the event’s growing reach and its role in nurturing emerging talent from across the country. Together, they form a formidable field that includes rising stars such Ayesha Gupta, Rashi Mishra, Raza Kaur, Keya K Badugu, Ojaswini Saraswat, Apeksha Grace David, Preitisha Kaur Gill, Gauri Sharma and many others demonstrating remarkable skill and potential on both national and international circuits.

Speaking at the ceremonial tee-off, held on the 1st Tee of the prestigious DGC Lodhi course, the Usha spokesperson said,

“Our association with the Delhi Golf Club goes back nearly four decades and is an extension of Usha’s philosophy of encouraging active and healthy living through sport. Over the years, this championship has grown into a remarkable platform for emerging talent, and the continued WAGR recognition only strengthens its stature. We are looking forward to three exciting days of competition, camaraderie, and world-class golf on these greens.”

Mrs Mala Bawa, Lady Captain, Delhi Golf Club shared, “Usha’s long-term commitment to women’s amateur golf has been instrumental in giving the sport greater visibility and momentum. The sustained WAGR status is an added motivation for more junior golfers to take up golf seriously. We’re excited to see a strong field this year and expect some inspiring performances from both seasoned and upcoming players.

Beyond golf, Usha continues to support sports development across India. These initiatives include collaborations with organizations like the Mumbai Indians, and support for sports such as ultimate flying disc, golf, and cricket for differently abled athletes. Usha also promotes sports for the visually impaired- including athletics, kabaddi, judo, and powerlifting – and works to preserve and popularize traditional Indian sports like Kalari, Chhinj, Siat Khnam, Thang-Ta, Saz-Loung, Satoliya (Pithu), Mallakhamb, and Gatka, reaffirming its deep commitment to inclusivity and grassroots sporting excellence.
