Hyderabad, 10th November, 2025: The Hyderabad Canine Club inaugurated HyCan 2025, the city’s biggest pet show, at Om Convention, Narsingi, on Saturday. The two-day event brings together 500 dogs, 100 cats, and a spectacular aquatic display featuring over 80 varieties of fish, celebrating the deep bond between humans and animals.
KT Rama Rao, who inaugurated the event with his pet Cherry, a Shih Tzu, shared his love for animals, saying,
“I am a pet lover. Dogs are like your own kids. Playing with my Cherry is my biggest stress buster.”
Despite his busy schedule amid the Jubilee Hills polls, KTR spent over an hour at the show, interacting with pet owners, enquiring about breeds, and taking selfies with visitors.
Rohit, Committee Member of the Hyderabad Canine Club, highlighted KTR’s support for the pet community, noting that he was instrumental in establishing India’s first Dog Park in Hyderabad.
This year’s edition of HyCan features two impactful initiatives:

“Safe With Dogs” Campaign: In collaboration with the Government of Telangana and GHMC, this public-awareness program promotes responsible pet ownership and aims to make Hyderabad a dog-friendly city. Pet-friendly cafés and shops received GHMC-endorsed certificates and “Safe With Dogs” stickers after attending educational workshops.

National Canine Bravery Awards: Organized jointly by RRU Commando K9 Academy and the Hyderabad Canine Club, the awards honored India’s police and security K9 units for their service and bravery.
The event also includes All-Breed Championship Dog Shows, a Cat Championship, an International Dog Grooming Competition, and Grooming Seminars and Workshops for pet lovers.
HyCan 2025 concludes on Sunday evening, continuing to champion compassion, awareness, and responsible pet care across Hyderabad.
