Eaton to showcase new DURA4TRAK™ transfer case for commercial 4×4 applications at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026

Turin, Italy — Intelligent power management company Eaton today announced its Mobility segment will showcase its DURA4TRAK™ transfer case for light- and medium-duty commercial vehicles at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, taking place Sept. 8-12 in Frankfurt, Germany. Designed for demanding on- and off-road applications, the geared, two-speed transfer case delivers high torque capacity, long service life and flexible installation for vehicles requiring dependable four-wheel-drive performance.

Developed for commercial vehicles with gross combination weights ranging from 6 to 15 tons, the DURA4TRAK transfer case supports both 4×2 and 4×4 operating modes while providing balanced torque distribution between the front and rear axles. Its lightweight aluminum housing helps reduce overall vehicle weight while maintaining high torque capacity. The combination of low weight and high torque helps reduce vehicle weight, improve fuel efficiency and lower operating costs without compromising performance.

“The commercial vehicle market continues to demand drivetrain solutions that can withstand harsh operating conditions without sacrificing efficiency or reliability,” said Marcos Janasi, business unit director, Commercial Powertrain, Eaton’s Mobility segment. “Our new transfer case gives end-users a lightweight, high-performance solution that delivers the traction, durability and flexibility needed across a wide range of vocational applications while helping reduce total cost of ownership.”

The transfer case is well suited for vocational trucks, utility vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural and military applications and other commercial vehicles operating in challenging environments.

Eaton’s transfer case features a two-speed, gear-driven architecture with a 2:1 low-range ratio and a 1:1 high-range ratio. By delivering a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear axles, it enhances traction in low-grip conditions while allowing operators to seamlessly transition between on-road travel and challenging off-road terrain.

Four-wheel-drive operation is supported at vehicle speeds up to 60 km/h, with 4×4 engagement available at speeds up to 30 km/h when free wheels are locked. A pneumatic shift system provides reliable transitions between operating modes while a provision for electronic actuation is also available.

Built for durability, the transfer case features a robust geared architecture with helical gears for quieter operation and a service life of up to 500,000 kilometers in typical commercial vehicle duty cycles. Multiple installation configurations, including remote or direct mounting, provide greater packaging flexibility while helping simplify vehicle integration.

Additional features include:

·       Lightweight 86 kg aluminum housing

·       Rear-mounted SAE B PTO interface

·       Integrated speed sensor

·       Multiple yoke and flange interface options

·       Remote assembly capability

The DURA4TRAK transfer case supports three operating configurations:

·       4×2 High Range for standard on-road driving

·       4×2 Low Range for increased torque at low speeds

·       4×4 Low Range for maximum traction in off-road and low-traction conditions

The transfer case is currently available and is in production for commercial vehicle applications. Regional engineering resources provide localized application support and customization to help manufacturers accelerate vehicle integration and deployment.
