Mumbai, Apr 27: As India’s financial markets ascend to new heights of global relevance, the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry will convene the Capital Markets Conference 2026 on May 4, 2026, at the NSE Atrium, Mumbai. Organized by the IMC Capital Markets Task Force, the summit is themed “Strengthening India’s Financial Markets: Depth, Efficiency and Stability” and will serve as a high-level platform for policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to architect the next phase of India’s financial evolution. The inaugural session will feature Mr. Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Chairperson of SEBI, as the Chief Guest, bringing together senior leadership from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and IMC. The session will also include a Guest of Honor address by Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal, Member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, who will present a macroeconomic perspective on the pivotal role of capital markets in shaping India’s growth trajectory.

Reflecting on the broader significance of the conference, Ms. Sunita Ramnathkar, President, IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry added, “As India advances towards becoming a $5 trillion economy, the role of efficient and well-regulated capital markets becomes increasingly central. Mr. Mrugank Paranjape, Chairman, IMC Task Force on Capital Markets and Managing Partner at MCQube, who will be hosting the fireside chat with the SEBI Chairperson, said, “India’s capital markets are at an inflection point, where scale must be matched with resilience, governance, and technological sophistication. Having witnessed the evolution of markets across asset classes and geographies, this is a crucial moment to deepen engagement between regulators and market participants. The interaction aims to bring greater clarity on regulatory priorities while fostering alignment on risk management, innovation, and the long-term sustainability of our financial ecosystem.”
The conference will feature a series of focused technical sessions across key segments of the capital markets ecosystem, including an equities dialogue on balancing rapid growth with liquidity and structural stability; a debt markets discussion addressing issuer diversity and structural gaps; and a session on commodity and currency markets aimed at enhancing onshore participation and efficiency. It will also explore the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, algorithmic trading, regulatory technology (RegTech), and cybersecurity, highlighting the balance between innovation and risk management in modern financial systems.
