New Delhi, Aug 4: India’s electric vehicle (EV) market recorded strong growth in July, with total sales rising 63 per cent year-on-year to more than 3.07 lakh units, highlighting the rapid expansion of clean mobility in the country.

According to industry data, electric vehicle adoption continued to gain momentum across segments, driven by rising consumer interest, wider availability of EV models, improving charging infrastructure and growing awareness about sustainable transportation.

Electric passenger vehicle sales witnessed a significant surge during the month, increasing 81 per cent year-on-year, indicating stronger acceptance of electric cars among consumers.

The growth in EV sales reflects the changing dynamics of India’s automobile sector, with manufacturers expanding their electric vehicle portfolios and investing in new technologies to meet rising demand.

Industry observers said factors such as lower running costs, advancements in battery technology, government support for electric mobility and increasing environmental awareness are contributing to the shift towards EVs.

The continued growth of the electric vehicle market is expected to play a key role in India’s efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, promote cleaner transportation and strengthen the country’s emerging green economy.
