CHENNAI, INDIA – Oct 07, 2022 – Mercom India, a leading global clean energy communications, consulting, and research firm recognized for its expertise in renewable energy, is hosting the C&I Clean Energy Meet in Chennai on October 14, 2022. The event is taking place at The Crowne Plaza, Chennai.
The fourth largest state for solar in India, 51% of Tamil Nadu’s power mix is from renewables. The state ranks third in cumulative solar open access installations as of the second quarter (Q2) of 2022 with installations surging of 70% in Q2 compared to the previous quarter. Open access solar has provided considerable savings to industrial consumers compared to the retail tariffs from the grid. The state also ranks among the top 10 for rooftop solar installations.
Commercial and industrial customers, particularly those with large power requirements, across India are struggling with mounting power bills. Tamil Nadu has increased the electricity charges in the multi-year tariff order released recently and has noted that power tariffs will be increased every year. This is reason enough for consumers to choose cheaper sources of power especially clean and green energy.
The day-long event is designed to foster collaboration between C&I companies and leading renewable energy solution providers. The conference will feature panel sessions and case studies that will demonstrate how industrial customers in the region can lower their growing energy costs.
Attendees will also learn about the latest technologies, business models, financing mechanisms, and regulations from leading developers offering rooftop and open access solar solutions.
“These conferences are aimed at creating awareness among industries and commercial units, offeing them ideal solutions to save on their power costs while also reducing their carbon footprint,” said Priyadarshini Sanjay, Managing Director at Mercom India. “Our events in Bangalore, Pune and Coimbatore, have received a massive response encouraging us to host the ‘Clean Energy Meet’ series in other major cities in India, including Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Noida.”
