Nagaland Joins India’s Gas Network as First Natural Gas Supply Reaches Dimapur

Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) achieved the milestone by successfully injecting natural gas into the Dergaon–Dimapur Pipeline, connecting Nagaland to the expanding Northeast Gas Grid.

The development marks an important advancement in the integration of the North Eastern Region with India’s wider natural gas infrastructure. It is expected to improve the availability of a reliable and cleaner energy source for industries, commercial establishments and other consumers in the state.

The new pipeline connectivity could also support industrial growth and encourage greater use of natural gas across the region. For Dimapur, a key commercial centre of Nagaland, improved access to piped natural gas may provide opportunities for businesses and future investments.

The expansion of the Northeast Gas Grid is aimed at creating a stronger and more connected gas distribution network across the region, while improving access to natural gas for economic and commercial activities.

With the successful commissioning of gas supply to Nagaland, the state has taken a significant step towards becoming part of India’s integrated energy network. The development is expected to strengthen the region’s energy security and support its long-term economic growth.
