New Delhi: Red Bull Dance Your Style, a global street dance event series with a unique format, returned to India for its second edition in the country. The Red Bull Dance Your Style India National Final 2022 took place at Setz, DLF Emporio, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. With over 90 events held in 30 countries around the world, Red Bull Dance Your Style is a truly global event with a unique twist – the crowd is the judge. Dancers from various street dance styles compete in one-on-one battles to unpredictable mainstream tracks ranging from recent global hits to classic beats, and the crowd decides who will emerge winner through a unique voting mechanism.
To participate in the Red Bull Dance Your Style India qualifiers, 1468 dancers registered on www.redbull.in/redbulldanceyourstyle and uploaded performance clips to their personal Instagram accounts, following all guidelines.
Japanese hip-hop dancer Kyoka, Poppin’ C from Switzerland, and French waacker Boubou judged the digital qualifiers and select the top 16 dancers from each region. Following the digital qualifiers, 16 dancers have been selected from each region of the country. They include 3DLock (Kolkata), Anushi (Mumbai), Boogie Vikas (Bhopal), Jasika (New Delhi), Jenny Gusai (New Delhi), Ken (Hyderabad), Killa B (Mumbai), Mekhola (Kolkata), Mister V (New Delhi), Mr Popkorn (New Delhi), Nextion (Bhubaneshwar), Popping Ranjan (Guwahati), Pradeep (Bengaluru), Saber (Mumbai), Smoke (Bengaluru) and Theertha (Bengaluru).
At the Regional Finals and the India Final, the audience decides who rules the dance floor, with winners being determined through crowd voting.
The street dance styles permitted in the Red Bull Dance Your Style in India are hip-hop, popping, locking, house, krumping, tutting, waving, dancehall, afro dance, voguing, waacking, litefeet, animation, and electro.
In Red Bull Dance Your Style, all dance forms and genders compete against one another in a single category to determine an overall champion.
The winner of the Red Bull Dance Your Style India Final will go on to compete at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Johannesburg, South Africa, on December 10, 2022.
This will be the second ever World Final. In 2019, at the historic Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris, France hosted the first-ever Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final with over 4000 attendees and over 3.8M viewers around the world seeing Dutch dancer Shinshan best 39 dancers to ultimately become the first World Champion.
