May 29, 2023, National: RoundGlass Sustain, a not-for-profit telling stories of India’s wildlife and habitats, announces the 2023 edition of its annual #TheUncontest. Launched in 2022, #TheUncontest is an experiment in collaborative storytelling. To draw attention to India’s lesser-known habitats, #TheUncontest invites people to celebrate the #Microhabitats of the natural world. The RoundGlass Sustain community is invited to share images of small areas that shelter a diversity of life forms. This could be a compost bin, a decomposing log, puddles, under a rock, or on the bark of a tree.
The innovative format highlights our belief that everyone has a connection with the natural world. We all have pieces to the story to tell and #TheUncontest brings those together into a powerful narrative. The format consciously moves away from the traditional photo contest to introduce a new inclusive narrative style that honors diverse voices.
The collaborative photo essay opened for submissions on May 22, 2023, and will close on June 30, 2023.
A panel of eminent wildlife storytellers will bring out the narrative held within the entries received. The jury includes:
- Bijal Vachharajani | Author, Editor, Climate Worrier
- Ripan Biswas | Wildlife Photographer specialising in macro photography
- Dhritiman Mukherjee | Wildlife and Conservation photographer, RoundGlass Sustain Ambassador
