Pratima Foundation Secures Another Milestone with Paani Film Screening

"Celebrating Hands-On Learning: The Impact of Experiential Education in Sports Management!"Pune,23 October 2024:  In a heartwarming event organized by Pratima Foundation, the special screening of the acclaimed Marathi movie Paani, directed by National Award-winner Addinath Kothare and produced by Purple Pebble Pictures.

The event saw attendance from several prominent NGOs, along with Pune’s top environmental and sustainability experts. The film, which highlights the challenges of water scarcity in rural Maharashtra, struck a deep chord with the audience, especially as it aligns with the core work of many of the attendees who focus on community-driven water conservation efforts.

A key partner in the event was Pune Climate Warriors, a movement conducting climate education programs in Pune’s top schools. Leaders, teachers, and students from participating schools were present, enhancing the evening with their passion for sustainability.

The highlight of the evening was the presence of the real-life Kendre family from Nagdarwadi, on whose inspiring journey Paani is based. Hanumant Kendre, whose visionary efforts in water conservation turned his drought-stricken village into a thriving community, attended the event alongside his entire family. Their emotional story, from overcoming severe water scarcity was met with a standing ovation. The family’s participation was a powerful reminder of the real-world impact depicted in the film.

Following the screening, attendees had the chance to participate in a lively post-screening interaction with Addinath Kothare and members of the film’s star cast. This provided a platform for open discussion on the film’s themes and how they relate to real-world environmental challenges.
