Dr. Suborno Bose Honored as ‘AI Policy Leader of the Year 2025’ by The Economic Times

Bengaluru, 04th November, 2025: The Economic Times has honored Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman of the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), with the prestigious title of ‘AI Policy Leader of the Year 2025’. The accolade recognizes his pioneering efforts in developing a human-centered AI integration model within hospitality and higher education — an approach that redefines policy leadership as emerging not only from governments and industries but also from classrooms and academic ecosystems.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Bose said, “I am deeply humbled to receive The Economic Times’ AI Policy Leader of the Year 2025 award. I see this not as a personal honor, but as a recognition of what Indian education has achieved through courage and experimentation. It affirms that policy leadership can originate from institutions that dare to reimagine learning through technology. What began as an IIHM experiment has evolved into a policy framework for responsible, human-centric AI in education.”

Dr. Bose emphasizes that responsible AI in hospitality is not about embedding ethics into algorithms alone, but about designing systems with intent   where technology enhances human experience rather than replaces it. His model envisions AI as a quiet enabler that improves precision, sustainability, and awareness, while ensuring that the emotional essence of service remains intact.

At IIHM, this philosophy translates into an experiential learning ecosystem where students engage with AI-driven hospitality simulations, zero-waste and sustainability labs, and empathy-based training. Innovative tools such as the GreenRoute Sustainable Travel GPT and the SDG GPT Builder reinforce a learning model that treats education itself as a living policy, shaping industry behavior and mindset before students even enter the workforce.

As Dr. Bose aptly notes, “Policy has meaning only when it reaches people.” At IIHM, responsibility, sustainability, and empathy are not added values they are core competencies that define the future of responsible AI and human-centered leadership.
