Softening CPI Inflation Expected to Drive Positive Consumer and Producer Sentiments, PHDCCI Reports

Continuous softening CPI inflation will boost consumer demand and stimulate production activity in the country, said Mr. Hemant Jain, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in a press statement issued here today.

The CPI inflation has fallen from 6.2% in October 2024 to 5.4% in November 2024, to 5.2% in December 2024 and 4.3% in January 2025, he said.

Softening inflation trajectory is backed by easing prices of food and beverages from 7.6% in December 2024 to 5.6% in January 2025, said Mr. Hemant Jain.

Inflation in clothing and footwear segment also softened from 2.7% in December 2024 to 2.6% in January 2025, said Mr. Hemant Jain.

Going ahead, assuming a normal monsoon and good kharif production, we expect the CPI inflation to remain well within the RBI’s target band, said Mr. Hemant Jain.
