Muscat, Oman, 04 August 2026 – Zain Omantel International (ZOI), the Middle East’s leading global wholesale carrier, in collaboration with Omantel, the leading integrated telecommunications and technology provider in the Sultanate of Oman, won the award for ‘Sustainable Stand Construction’ at Oman Sustainability week 2026. The event focused on interactive education for young people and innovative solutions to support ZOI’s global digital infrastructure.
Throughout the event, ZOI engaged with more than 1,700 students, families, and visitors through interactive initiatives and awareness activities, supported by eight volunteers who contributed a total of 68 volunteering hours. The company’s presence was further recognized with the “Sustainable Stand Construction Award,” underscoring its commitment to environmentally conscious design and execution.
“It has become increasingly important to talk about sustainable practices across infrastructure as well as in-person events like Oman Sustainability Week,” said Sohail Qadir, CEO at ZOI. “By educating the younger generation and providing interactive experiences to showcase our progress, we can ensure sustainable innovation continues to evolve with the next generation. Winning the ‘Sustainable Stand Construction’ Award is another step towards showing our dedication to this initiative.”
As part of their showcase, ZOI handed out an illustrated storybook and interactive coloring book, “A Journey Through the Seas,” designed to make sustainability and technology accessible to young learners.
The initiative aims to introduce children aged 6 to 12 to concepts such as sustainability, clean energy, and the role of digital infrastructure in environmental protection. Through the characters Faris and Engineer Noura, children are guided on a journey connecting marine ecosystems with modern data center technologies, helping them understand how digital transformation supports a greener planet.
“ZOI’s connectivity goes beyond infrastructure. It drives the industry towards thinking differently,” said Sohail Qadir, CEO at ZOI. “From inspiring the next generation to advancing life-saving medical innovation, we are demonstrating how digital networks can deliver huge impact and support a more sustainable and inclusive future.”
The project aligns with ZOI’s broader sustainability strategy, focusing on enabling energy-efficient digital infrastructure, supporting environmental awareness, and leveraging connectivity to drive measurable social impact across communities.
As part of its broader community engagement during the exhibition, ZOI also organized a children’s coloring competition focused on sustainability themes. The initiative encouraged children to creatively express their perspectives on sustainability.
Winners were later invited, along with their families, to ZOI’s office, where they were given a guided tour of the company’s environmentally friendly facilities. The visit concluded with a recognition ceremony hosted by senior leadership, reinforcing ZOI’s commitment to youth empowerment and experiential learning.
ZOI is always working to reinforce its position as a key enabler of sustainable digital transformation; connecting communities, advancing innovation, and supporting a more resilient future.
